CBD 101: Your Guide to Everything CBD
What is CBD?
Natural Cannabidoil extracted from Hemp
Hemp based CBD is a legal alternative to medical marijuana and does not produce the high you would get from marijuana.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the cannabinoids found in hemp and marijuana plants.
CBD has no psychoactive effects and is perfect for people to enjoy legally and without getting high.
How does CBD work?
CBD works with the Endocannabinoid System
Your Endocannabinoid System is a network of messengers and receptors that regulate the way your body functions, the communication system between your body and brain. The messengers, called cannabinoids, bind with the receptors located throughout your body.
The cannabinoids made in your body are endocannabinoids. Although your body makes endocannabinoids (2-AG and anadamide) as needed.
This is where CBD comes to play
Much like a daily vitamin
CBD is one of the many cannabinoids found in the hemp plants, supplements the Endocannabinoid System, which plays a vital role in optimal human performance.
The Endocannabinoid System Regulates:
- Motor Control
- Immune Function
- Temperature Regulation
CBD Health Benefits
There have been several studies conducted to assess health benefits of of CBD. There are a variety of uses for CBD products. It is important to understand that significant clinical research has yet to be conducted to verify CBD benefits.
CBD Hemp oil is legal
It is important to understand that hemp-derived CBD is legal in all 50 states, however, marijuana-derived CBD is not legal federally. The legal hemp-based CBD needs to contain less than 0.3% THC (ingredient in cannabis that gets users high). Since marijuana typically has TCH levels higher than 0.3% it's not legal across all states.
What is the Difference between CBd from Hemp vs. MARIJUANA?
Both marijuana and hemp are from the same plant species (cannabis sativa). The key difference between the two is the levels of THC. Other than that, there is substantially no difference between CBD from hemp and marijuana.
FULL SPECTRUM vs CBD ISOLATE
When you select a full- specturm CBD product, your product contains naturally occuring cannabinoids (including less than 0.3% THC), plant terpenes, flavinoids, vitamins, and minerals of the original hemp source. These compounds work together, multiplying the potential health benefits of each of the product components in what is known as the "Entourage Effect."
CBD Isolate is cannabidiol in its purest form a full-spectrum product that has been further processed to remove the plant compounds. All that remains is a white powder that is at least 99 percent pure CBD with zero percent THC. This powder is then transformed into various CBD isolate products such as oils and edibles.
A full - spectrum CBD product is the product of choice for those looking to take advantage of the Entorouge Effect. The Entorouge Effect is used to explain how the whole has a greater impact than its individual parts.
When cannabinoids, plant terpenes, flavinoids and vitamins have the ability to work together, they have the potential to magnify the benefits of the others - strengthening the potential effects.
How to Consume CBD?
CBD comes in a variety of products that include oils, edibles and topicals. With CBD oil you can place the recommended number of drops under your tongue for 30-60 seconds for fastest absorption. With edible CBD products in the market you can enjoy them in a form of coffee, tea, gummies and many other forms coming to market daily. With topicals you can apply the oil rich topical directly to the problem area on your skin or follow any instruction on the product.
Vaping is the most efficient & effective way to administer CBD as it has the highest potential bioavailibility (the rate of absorption in the bloodstream).
CBD has the potential to improve your overall health and wellness. Daily supplementation of hemp-derived CBD can increase the long-term functionality of the endocannabinoid system, which plays a vital role in optimal human performance.
CBD and Drug Testing
It is unlikely that a UDS (Urine Drug Screen) would show positive for THC with a patient taking pure isolate CBD. On the other hand, Full-Specturm CBD products may contain trace amounts of THC (<0.3%) and are therefore more likely to test positive in a UDS. The only way to be completely safe would be to stop all usage of any Isolate or Full Spectrum substances prior to your scheduled screening.
Still, this is not a promise that your screening will come back negative, but it is not a bad idea to stop usage at least ten days (if not longer) before a urine text, if possible.
